shoes

Another installment from the recent shoot. I'm busy watching the inaugural coverage today, and need to get substantial amounts of work done on MP2 (my nickname for the paper I'm working on -- Massive Paper 2).

three musketeers

I had my first photoshoot of 2009. It was a gift for my friend, Betsy -- she, Becky, Amanda, and I spent the afternoon shopping/coffee-ing and taking pictures as well. I've been working my way through editing since the football game last night. Being from Baltimore, I was sad to see the Ravens lose, but we put up a good fight! I thought some of these pictures worked especially well in diptychs (or in this case, a modified triptych). I'll continue to share them as I edit.

But seeing as I have one week left until classes start back up, I have a long to-do list that needs to be accomplished. Plus I have to write a 30-40 page paper in the next month. I should probably come up with an outline soon, eh?

developing an addiction?

Quick post tonight, because I still need to knock a few things off my to-do list before tomorrow. I've come to have a new appreciation for caffeinated drinks lately. I'm hoping that the appreciation doesn't turn into an addiction... The good news is perhaps it's helping me post more blogs, at least right now...

quick trip to philly

My Christmas present to myself this year was a quick trip to Philadelphia. Only this time, it didn't involve spending hours in archives! Ever since our time together in June, some of the girls from the research fellowship had been planning to have a reunion after Christmas. I was really looking forward to seeing them, and it was just the break I needed. I wish it could have lasted a little longer!

So what do five women in their twenties do for a weekend reunion in Philadelphia?
-talk graduate school
-read each others' resumes
-play biography/trivia games (NOT history, though it claimed to be)
-go to the art museum
-visit historic Philly
-learn to knit
(and now the more normal stuff)
-exchange gifts
-go to the second largest mall in America
-watch movies
-eat lots of dessert

All in all, an excellent weekend.

But now, it's back to the grind for me. The last thing I need to check off my to-do list tonight is transcribing a paper I wrote. Long story short, but after my lovely computer crashed for the umpteenth time this past summer (do you catch the sarcasm in my voice?), I lost several important papers that I was hoping to submit as samples of my work. I knew I had a hardcopy of the most important one, but didn't know where I had put it "for safekeeping." After searching for it for three months and finally giving up, I found it the other day! Now I'm transcribing it and saving it in a million places.

happy new year, happy birthday

My iTunes: Rejoice Greatly from Handel's Messiah

Happy New Year, dear blog readers! And happy birthday to my baby brother, Grant! I guess "baby" doesn't describe him anymore now that he is 17, but I'm his sister so I can say it. Grant has his birthday on the 12th day of Christmas, so this is his time of the year for receiving gifts! Then the poor guy has to wait 353 (or 354) more days for more.

Now that the semester is over, I've had my camera out a bit more. I did take a few pictures on Christmas, but unfortunately felt sick most of the day and stayed on the couch for the most part. I felt fine the next day, though.

I hope to blog a bit more regularly this month at least, and I have some picture of Philadelphia to share from a recent trip back. Perhaps I'll share my list of highlights from the past year as well. But you'll have to come back to find out!
